I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Mike Petryk School of Dentistry and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Measurement, Evaluation, and Data Science (MEDS) in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta.

My research integrates applied linguistics, data science, and educational measurement to develop and evaluate natural language processing (NLP) applications in dentistry, medicine, and education. I specialize in transformer-based language models, with a current focus on graph-based retrieval-augmented generation for dental analytics. My work also encompasses multilingual automated essay scoring, automatic item generation, and AI-supported assessment in educational and health professions contexts.

I hold two PhDs—in Measurement, Evaluation, and Data Science from the University of Alberta and in Applied Linguistics from Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz—and completed an Alberta Innovates Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Alberta’s School of Dentistry. This interdisciplinary training provides the foundation for my work connecting language, computational methods, and assessment.
